Our learning

We aim to make lessons at Odessa exciting, challenging and relevant. The links on this page should help you understand the current school curriculum and how it is taught.

Please feel free to discuss targets and the curriculum with your child’s class teacher if you would like to know more.

Learning Powers

At Odessa we aim that our pupils will be independent, curious and resilient learners. In light of this we have adopted ‘The Learning Powers’ approach, which was created by Professor Guy Claxton. It is based on the idea that we are all capable of becoming better learners. Teachers have already been introducing this concept to their classes.
So, your child may have already come home saying that they are a ‘Persevering Parrot or Creative Chameleon’ – these animals represent the characteristics of want makes a good learner. We want to share our vision with you and promote the ‘Learning Powers’ both at school and at home.
